Barnum Bay
Yacht Club |
Founded in 1985, the mission of the
Barnum Bay Yacht Club
is to sponsor activities on or near Lake Petenwell for the enjoyment of the membership in a safe and friendly manner. Each season we hold several races on the lake as well as sponsoring a race for the Catamaran Racing Association of Wisconsin (CRAW). In addition to our races we also share in the activities with area yachts clubs including Lake DuBay Sailing Association and LaCrosse Sailing Club.
During the season we hold numerous
fun social events, including two in the off season. In addition to cruising Lake Petenwell, our
club takes regular road trips to the Apostle Islands and Lake Winnabego.

Dyracuse
Motorcycle Recreation Area |
March 4, 1979, the Rapid Angels Motorcycle
Club discussed a Motorcycle
Recreation Program (MRP) funded park for the land adjacent to their own
twenty acres in the Town of Rome, WI. The program is designed
to provide financial assistance to local units of government for
acquisition, operation, and maintenance of public off-highway motorcycle
riding areas and facilities. The
Dyracuse
Motorcycle Recreation Area (Dyracuse Park) officially opened on May 29,
1982, and is operated by the Town of Rome in cooperation with the Rapid
Angels Motorcycle Club. The park is named after Dyracuse Mound, a
prominent landmark in Adams County, where it is located. The area
abounds with recreational opportunities with numerous lakes and forests
surrounding the park. Camping, food, and gas are readily
available. |

Wildflowers, etc. |
When Wildflowers, etc. was formed in 1999,
we began by offering Lupine seeds to persons interested in learning
about the natural world of central Wisconsin and landscaping with native
plants. We
have found friendship and purpose by meeting others who share our love
of things native, visiting interesting places in the area and working to
keep the invasive Purple Loosestrife under control in the Walden natural
area of Lake Camelot. Contact Barb Herreid at 325-2075 or Jack & Shirley
Pflederer at
pfledjack@juno.com for more information. |
