Rome Fire Department was established in 1974 to provide services designed to minimize loss of life and property. This department services to a population of 2,900 residents in an area of 54 square miles. We have two stations one located at Alpine Ave. and Highway 13, the second near 15th Ave and Apache Ave. The department rating - ISO class 7.

The Rome Fire Department provides a wide range of services which include: Firefighting ~ Emergency Medical Service ~ Vehicle Rescue (Extrication) ~ Search & Rescue ~ Water Rescue ~ Wild Land Firefighting and Fire Inspection

ROME FIRE DEPARTMENT STAFF

     

John Frantz, Jr., Chief
Fire Chief Frantz has over 35 years of experience with a B/S degree from Southern Illinois University in Fire Science. Chief Frantz is a Certified Fire Officer III, a Master Level Instructor with 25 years of experience as an EMT. He is currently a Certified 1st Responder.

 
 

Winn Powers, Asst. Chief
Assistant Fire Chief Winn Powers graduated in 1981 from Southern Illinois University with a B/S degree in Fire Science. Winn served on the Milwaukee Fire Department as a firefighter and Lieutenant from 1974 - 2001. Assistant Chief Powers has been an Emergency Medical Technician since 1980 and also serves as Fire Inspector. He is a retired member of the Air National Guard Fire Chiefs Association and a member of the WI Fire Inspectors Association.

 

Thomas Stojak, Asst. Chief
Thomas Stojak, "Captain Commando" has served in the Rome Fire Department for six years. His certifications include: Firefighter I and II, Fire Officer I, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Open Water SCUBA diver, American Heart Association/Red Cross Instructor, Hazardous Materials Technician, Ice-Water and Swift Water Rescue Specialist and confined Space Rescue Specialist.

2007 Fire Dept. Open House

 

Rome Fire Department Training is on Monday nights at 6:00pm with make-up training on Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm and Saturday mornings at 9:00am.

We will supply you with your equipment, send you to Mid-State Technical College for your entry-level Firefighting training. You will be paid $9.00 an hour for training and special details and once certifications are acquired, a minimum of $14.00 an hour for emergency calls depending on your qualifications.
